Presentation of the Research Department

The Université Catholique de Lille was founded nearly 150 years ago. Its longevity results from a balance between what unites our institutions and what is at the basis of their singularities: their three academic missions: education, research, and service to society.

Our institutions’ research activity has been growing significantly for the last fifteen years, with many significant advances: the creation of laboratories, the successful funding of large projects, and the increase in scientific publications at high levels.

The research activity aims to produce and propagate first-rate knowledge, valorize it, and make it visible, both at the national and international levels. Research activities are in synergy with the other two academic missions: education and service to society.

In terms of education, the aim is to give students the benefits of scientific discoveries and, conversely, to enrich research with the varied contributions they can add, especially at the doctoral level.

As for service to society, the aim is to provide research expertise to civil society, companies, communities, and care institutions and to strengthen research through these activities.
