Prerequisite
Recommended preliminary skills: basic knowledge of microeconomic analysis and mathematics for economists.
Goal
At the end of the course the student should be able to :
- Understand and explain key economic concepts as they relate to managerial decision making
- Intepret and analyze complex business situations using a formal economic framework
- Apply the analytical framework to provide quantitative support for managerial decision making
- Develop and defend a project that considers managerial decision making in a global economic environment

Presentation
The first part of the course comprises the basics of managerial economics, including:
- Demand, production and market structures
- Pricing, tactics and strategic interaction
The second part deals with advanced topics in managerial economics. This part covers advanced pricing techniques, auction mechanisms, information technology and technological change.

Evaluation
The student will be assessed on the basis of
1) multiple-choice questions on a web platform, individualized feedback is organized as an in-class discussion of the answers.
2) a group assignment with peer assessment on a selected advanced topic in managerial economics, constructive individualized feedback moments are scheduled during the progress of the group project.
3) a written final exam. Collective feedback will be provided on www.ieseg-online.com.
