Goal
At the end of the course, the student should be able to: identify and describe the general aspects of the data protection regulation (GDPR), differentiate between different types of data,demonstrate practical knowledge and understanding of current data protection requirements,deal effectively with the most common data protection issues confronted by business enterprises.
Presentation
Topics covered include the basic concepts of the GDPR, the key actors and their role, the territorial and material scope of the GDPR, the general principles, the lawful bases for processing, the special categories of data, the data subjects' rights, the obligations of data controllers and processors, data transfers to third countries or international organisations, EU-US Privacy Shield, enforcement and compliance mechanisms, liabilities and sanctions for non-compliance.
