2nd Edition of the ECOPOSS Festival: An Extraordinary Journey

2nd Edition of the ECOPOSS Festival: An Extraordinary Journey
Let’s imagine the future together!
To mark the conclusion of the 150th anniversary of the Université Catholique de Lille, the ECOPOSS festival invites students and the general public to explore future challenges through conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and performances. From October 9 to 12, embark on this extraordinary journey. Spark your imagination, engage your thinking, and take action!
Over a hundred events
For this 2nd edition, discover what desirable futures could look like—and how we can start building them today. Take part in hands-on workshops and think about the kind of future we want to live in: try on an aging simulator, immerse yourself in a deepfake experience to grasp the stakes of misinformation, or imagine better tomorrows through design fiction workshops. Understand the ecological transition through interactive sessions and nature walks to reconnect with the living world. A rich program curated by our institutions, students, and external partners.
A Book Fair to Imagine and Debate
As a true gateway into futures we can dream and build together, the Book Fair will be a highlight of the festival. Over 80 authors will join the public in exploring new narratives. Meet science fiction writers, thinkers, illustrators—exchange with them on the big questions of our time and enjoy engaging debates. Confirmed guests include Plantu, Camille Kouchner, and Thierry Marx.
A youth area will offer workshops and animated readings to spark curiosity in younger audiences.
Conferences and Debates to Understand Key Issues
Through a series of conferences, debates, and “Grandes Rencontres,” examine your relationship with the future, ethics, and society—through engaging and thought-provoking talks. Topics include travel, storytelling, parenting, wealth, humanity, and artificial intelligence viewed through a geopolitical lens… Plenty to reflect on!
Confirmed guests include explorer and researcher Christian Clot, psychoanalyst Marie Balmarye, and YouTuber Cyrus North.
Performances to Celebrate
A festive vibe will carry through the four days of programming. Join us from the opening night and on the evenings that follow for a musical comedy, 150 Years in Lights, tracing the journey of the University and beyond. Discover the amazing work of over 300 singers, actors, and dancers. Throughout the weekend, enjoy artistic performances between workshops and conferences on a dedicated stage.
To wrap things up, a contagious choreography will sweep through the crowd to upbeat music, creating a joyful, spontaneous happening. Join the Choreographic Ball led by the Ballet du Nord – CCN, in collaboration with our students.
