Students should have good workable knowledge of strategies for growth, organisational behaviour skills and human resource issues. This unit aims to deepen students’ understanding of the concepts and processes which underpin strategic change in organisations in order to evaluate the problems facing organisations in attempting to achieve strategic change for their work as a change leader.. Therefore, students should be able to critically analyse cases and provide grounded solutions to the problems that might arise during change implementation programs.
LO1 – Analyse and evaluate the process of change and the dynamics that exist in each of the stage and apply this understanding in developing change agents behaviours
LO2 – Evaluate the scope for and the barriers against attempts by organisations to manage the process of strategic change.
LO3 – Critically assess the different processes of strategic change in organisations and the different roles of managers which are required.
LO4 – Critically evaluate attempts by organisations to achieve strategic change through the analysis of case studies.
LO5 – Formulate practical recommendations to organisations as to how they may be able to improve their management of strategic change.
LO6- Identify issues and opportunities in change management
Introduction and change diagnosis, change interventions, capability buidling, design and plan the change. Steps to implement the change along with the analysis of the dynamics that affect the implementation of change. Students should be able to draw the best practices of managing change in organisations. Key issues such as leadership, resistance, organisational culture, change identification, change interventions and sustaining change are introduced so that students can become change agents in the future.
