The course aims to provide an introduction to the basic practices of Human Resources Management (HRM), that is an overall understanding of how an organization acquires, develops, evaluates, rewards and generally manages its people.
The key aims are:
- Understanding the key functions of human resource management and their interrelationships.
- Appreciating the importance of HR practices and systems in organizations today.
- Analyzing HR issues and cases by applying the concepts and principles learned.
- Introducing human resource management, examining the roles of HRM, including strategic HRM.
- Describing the process of analyzing work and its significance to HR management.
- Explaining the processes used in HR planning and recruiting.
- Examining the different methods for employee selection and job placement.
- Tracing the process used for effective training and development programs.
- Discussing the role of performance management in organizations.
- Explaining total rewards, including establishing a pay structure, incentive plans and employee benefits.
