This course aims at examining the situation of the British State in the age of globalisation. After sketching the major and concurrent theories of the State and placing them in the heated context of the British constitutional framework, attention will be focused on the shift from industrial to post-industrial interpretations of the state and society in Britain. Lastly, two specific and dialectically opposed schemes to British reallocation of sovereignty will be studied: Regionalisation and Europe.
