Students who chose this course should be interested in EastEuropean issues. Ideally they have good knowledge of current economical situation in the Central and Eastern countries. Students will be asked to read some academic texts, some official texts and some articles from newspapers. It is important that students are willing to discuss.
At the end of the course the student should be able to :
-Develop an understanding of Central and Eastern Europe, it’s recent history and rich cultural diversity and its impact on business environment
– Demonstrate an international mindset
– Describe the main characteristic of the business environments of those countries
– Examine strategic and marketing options for Central and Eastern Europe environment
Session I Understand Central and Eastern Europe and its recent history
Session II Economic transition and the impact on the business environment (liberalization, privatisation, Foreign Direct Investment), Political, economic and institutional context after the Accession to the EU
Session III The success story of Baltic states (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia)
Session IV Focus on Poland and its FDI
Session V Car industry in Slovakia
Session VI The rise of the enterprising in Russia
