Recommended preliminary skills: basic knowledge of microeconomic analysis and mathematics for economists.

At the end of the course the student should be able to :

– Understand and explain key economic concepts as they relate to managerial decision making
– Intepret and analyze complex business situations using a formal economic framework
– Apply the analytical framework to provide quantitative support for managerial decision making
– Develop and defend a project that considers managerial decision making in a global economic environment

The first part of the course comprises the basics of managerial economics, including:
– Demand, production and market structures
– Pricing, tactics and strategic interaction

The second part deals with advanced topics in managerial economics. This part covers advanced pricing techniques, auction mechanisms, information technology and technological change.
