At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
– Understand the SMEs diversity, key elements and recognise their linkages
– Understand SMEs structures, their evolution and challenges
– Apply knowledge gathered in strategy and operational modules to specific cases
– Able to gather data from various trustworthy sources
– Apply analytical capabilities to critically apprase cases
This module will provide an overview of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) vital contribution in terms of their economic, social and cultural impacts and their connections to various stakeholders such as clients, suppliers, government, public bodies or academia. It focuses on linking various disciplines, such as marketing, innovation, strategy and human resource, and applying your theoretical knowledge to an SME context, then analyse internal and external factors in order to deliver business advice.
The module also includes group presentations and case studies. Presentations will be undertaken in small groups based on interest around a self-chosen consultancy related topic. About 15 – 20 mins powerpoint presentations, no written report is required.Case work will be done in groups, discussed and presented in class.
