At the end of this course the student should be able to:
By exploring a range of perspectives students will be invited to analyse the nature of sustainable development as a discipline and process, and sustainability as a goal. Contested understandings, practical trade-offs, social learning and value orientated thought and action will characterise the questioning and constructive nature of this module.
At the end of this course the student should be able to: (1) discuss the key principles, perspectives, benefits, and critical success factors, informing concepts of sustainbale development, sustainability and corporate social responsibility, (2) describe a number of models, frameworks, and tools, (3) understand the accounting for corporate sustainability and the reporting of the contribution of a company to sustainable development, and (4) identify the specificities of innovative business models that claim to contribute to sustainable development.
This course looks at:
1. Foundation Concepts of Sustainable Development;
2. The Business Case for Sustainable Development: From Strategy Design to Implementation;
3. Accounting for Corporate Sustainability and the Reporting for Sustainable Development;
4. Information Systems & Technology for Sustainable Development;
5. Innovative Business Models for Sustainable Development
