Prerequisite
Introductory course on management and operations management.
Goal
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the purchasing context, interrelationships with other stakeholders, core purchasing activities, contributions to strategic and business goals
- Design and undertake a basic supplier benchmarking, comparison and selection process.
- Have awareness of supplier evaluation, selection and performance improvement processes used by purchasing
- Be able to undertake basic purchasing projects for tangible products, services and MRO. - Understand minority supplier spend obligations
- Be aware of basic supplier development concepts
- Understand purchase life cycle from concept through ramp-down/withdrawl and post production spare support
