Objectifs
At the end of the course, the student should be able :
- To know the various businesses of the market of art.
- To know the legal and institutional framework of the trade of works of art, including the import and export from France.
- To be able to look for the resources of information about artists, their heirs and their experts, on the prices fo the works of art and the public financing of the artistic activity.

Présentation
We will make a presentation of each of the businesses connected to the trade of works of art, with the conditions of its exercice (responsibility, position on the market, management).
I. General framework of the market of art
- Background of the market of art; rules of the trade of works of art; sale of works of art and Internet.
- The State and the trade of works of art: legal framework ; concurrence and collaboration between museums and galleries.
II. Actors of the market of art
Direct sellers of works of art:
- art’s marchand,
- antique dealer,
- gallery owner.
To sell a work of art as intermediary :
- auctioneer and broker of art.
- artistic adviser and decorator.
III. Technical businesses participating to the valorisation of the works of art
- Experts or specialists, restorers, insurance of works of art
