Objectifs
At the end of the course, the student should have:
- become familiar with the concept of “Arab-Muslim world” and its cultural diversity
- a clear understanding of the influences of Islam on the socio-economic sphere
- acquired an overview of the specifics of a focus group made of the Arab League countries + Turkey + Iran
- learnt some basic intercultural practices in the field of management and business development in the focus group
Présentation
The course will firstly address a brief introduction to the intercultural field: . Same will be done with Islam in a historical perspective which will outline the impacts of this religion on various fields such as social, legal, finance, political, etc. It will then tackle the concept of “Arab-Muslim world”: what is meant by this expression and what it entails in terms of variety and diversity, with a focus on the group of countries mentioned above. Identity construction and national particularities will be covered before moving on to the managerial and business issues relevant to the same group.
Hence the course is divided in four parts:
1. Introduction to the intercultural field
2. Introduction to Islam
3. The Arab-Muslim world
4. Working and business
