Prérequis
No prerequisite is assumed. Familiarity with financial and statistical notions would be a plus but they are not required.
Objectifs
At the end of the course, the student should be able :
Understand the basics of financial markets (bonds, stocks, and derivatives markets);
Understand the subprime and the sovereign bond financial crises;
Understand the ideas to reform global financial regulation;
Critically evaluate international investmenst strategies thereby accounting for diverse business objectives and circumstances (AACSB).

Présentation
This course focuses on financial globalization, that is, the opening up of a country's financial system to capital flows and financial firms from other countires. It provides the necessary background to understand the basics of global financial markets, that is, basic knowledge of financial markets, and then present two important but related aspects of global finance; the existing financial regulation, and the two recent financial crises, the subprime and the Sovereign debt crisis. It also presents (if time) possible solutions to fix the global financial system.

Évaluation
The assessment is based on presentations by group on a financial topic which accounts for 50% of the final grade. Students will also have a final examination (open questions and exercises) which will account for 50% of the final grade.
